Avengers EP (1979) on White Noise Records
Classic Early American Punk
four-song EP produced by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols (who the Avengers opened for at the Winterland in San Francisco at the Sex Pistols final show)....
...was released on White Noise Records in 1979 a couple months after the band broke up. Tracks The American In Me and Uh Oh are different than the versions on Pink Album release...
Produced by Geza X who produced a lot of early California punk releases including the Dead Kennedys , the Germs, and Black Flag...
James Wilsey later went on to play lead guitar with Chris Isaak....
Brad Kent was influential in the early Canadian punk scene and played in early versions of DOA and the Subhumans before joining the Avengers...
burned from the original black vinyl..
images stolen from Discog.com as my photos looked shitty...

Hey, thanks much for posting! I have the EP, and it's great to find it online and ripped. I had the great fortune to see the Avengers a few times in the last couple of years, and they rock really hard still, which is amazing!
ReplyDeleteBTW, this is well worth getting, because all of these versions are DIFFERENT than what was later on the "Pink" LP/CD and "Died for your Sins" CD. IMO, these versions here on the EP are far tougher and raw, much more impact. "Corpus Christi shreds and Penelope evokes with a visceral conviction that chills the spine!
thanks for sharing this. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! would you be able to school me on how to open these files please. thank you again i have been searching for this record or at least the recordings for too long. the versions are more raw and tough.
ReplyDeleteLluvia - it's a RAR file. There are many free programs that you can use to open the file. I use WinRAR (it's an evaluation copy which is free). Just google WinRAR for help.
